choosing a plant size

Plants are available in cells, tubes, 140mm and 200mm pots,  and wetland strips.

Cells are seedling trays of 128 or 200 plants, species dependant.  Best used in large-scale planting or revegetation projects.

Tubes come in 84mm ‘hiko’ trays of 40 plants.  Also ideal for large-scale planting and revegetation.

140mm (6”) and 200mm (8”) pots are available in a smaller range of species suited to landscaping where instant impact is required.

Strips are 1m long and are an ideal wetlands planting solution.

Larger plants, 140mm and 200mm pots, are often specified for landscaping projects to give an instant effect.  It has been our experience that planting in a smaller sized tube is not only more cost effective (generally attaining the same size as a 140mm pot in a short few months) but plants tend to settle in better with less chance of attrition due to transplant shock, and have lower watering requirements during establishment.

Provincial is happy to assist with the selection of the most appropriate sized plant for your project.
