the Provincial nurseries

Wandella NSW

Our Wandella nursery is nestled in the coastal hinterland of the picturesque Wandella Valley one hour’s drive north of Bega in the south - east corner of NSW.  The nursery adjoins the Wandella Creek and is situated amongst a previously logged forest, surrounded by National Park on one boundary and State Forest on another.

It is a steep undulating site that necessitates that the nursery is contoured sympathetically into the hillside thereby maximising wind protection and in conjunction with shelter belt plantings of wattles, utilises natural shade.  The series of terraces are exposed to below zero frosts, biting summer heat and harsh winds so plants are hardened off long before planting.

Provincial has commenced implementing and installing infrastructure to enable recycling of water and harvesting of rainwater and is committed to continuing to invest in this work.

The Wandella nursery and office run entirely on solar power. Hot water is also solar with a gas booster.

We do not use toxic chemicals in our nurseries and have waste minimisation and recycling practices in place.

Forest rehabilitation, firewood production, mulch production, worm farming, composting of nursery wastes, organic fruit tree orchard establishment and the development of vegetable gardens, plant breeding trials and an aquaponics system are all elements that are currently undertaken and make up the Wandella enterprise.

Pialligo ACT

Provincial’s Canberra nursery is conveniently located on the main road from the airport to the city of Canberra, adjacent to the nursery district of Pialligo.

It is an open site backing onto a creek which is particularly cold in winter (regular minus 3 to minus 8) and is particularly hot and windy in summer – thereby demonstrating the suitability of Provincial’s plants to accommodate climate extremities.

Our selection of reconstituted sandstone pavers, boutique pots, garden décor and sculpture, predominantly native plants and display gardens are available for public perusal at Pialligo.  Meander through the outdoor display rooms constructed by our talented landscape construction contractors to find inspiration for your garden spaces.
