Cultural notes: A hardy and vigorous plant adaptable to a wide range of conditions. Prefers full sun but will tolerate light shade. Suitable for tropical climates and wet conditions.
Maintenance: Can be pruned after flowering to maintain shape. Responds to fertilizing with a native plant fertilizer after flowering.
Tolerant: Of drought, frost, salt spray and poor drainage.
Flowering season: Spring, summer and autumn.
Flower colour: Brilliant red flower spikes to 12cm in length.
Foliage colour: Leaves are dull green and elliptical, to 9cm in length.
Width: Up to 3m
Height: Up to 3m
Plant spacing: 150cm apart
Recommended uses: A very adaptable plant that, due to its tolerance of tropical and wetter conditions, has a large range of uses. Suitable as a hedge or screen plant and as a feature plant, is also a bird attractant.
Description: A fast growing shrub with broad green leaves and brilliant red flower spikes. Grows to 3m in height and width.
