Description: A fast-growing tree with a rounded canopy. This tree grows up to 20 metres with dark green foliage that turns a burgundy through the autumn season.

Origin: North-Western Africa, South-Western Europe.

Cultural notes: Full sun is ideal for this tree. When being established, water deeply, though once established, will become drought tolerable. Prune young trees in late autumn to help establish central growth.

Tolerates: Tolerates most soils types, is drought tolerant when established.

Flowering type and season: Flowering is insignificant and often goes unnoticed. Flowers in spring.

Foliage type and colour: Glossy dark green leaves that are a narrow lance shape. Foliage turns a dark burgundy colour in autumn.

Soil type: This tree will tolerate most soil types. Prefers neutral to alkaline soils that are well-draining, can tolerate acidic conditions.
