Description: A medium-sized deciduous tree that’s fast-growing and takes an oval shape with ascending branches and slightly weeping foliage. Known as the ‘shademaster’ due to its abundant shade production, often being found in large gardens and parkland.

Origin: Southern, North America.

Cultural notes: Full sun is preferred. Water in well when planting and keep the soil moist until the tree becomes established. This tree is susceptible to wind damage, so plant in protected areas.

Tolerates: Tolerant of some drought and wetter conditions. Tolerant of pollution.

Flowering type and season: Insignificant green-white flowers appear in springs, brown legume fruits are produced after. Flowers in springtime.

Foliage type and colour: Foliage is dark green and bipinnate in shape. Leaves turn bright yellow through autumn, not falling until later in the season.

Soil type: Well-draining moist soil preferred. Can grow in most types of soil. pH can be slightly acidic.

Height: Up to 11m
