Pistacia chinensis

Description: This small deciduous tree with a rounded canopy is fantastic for its ornamental qualities. It has an interesting bark the colour of a dark grey with a beautiful texture. In autumn the leaves will turn shades of orange and red before falling. Summer will bring a beautiful green canopy of leaves with a leathery texture.

Origin: China.

Cultural notes: Grows best in full sun. Formative pruning is recommended to produce a good branch structure.

Tolerates: This is a hardy tree, being tolerant of drought, heat and frost. Will withstand poor soil conditions.

Flowering type and season: Insignificant.

Foliage type and colour: The foliage has a pinnate structure with 10 to 12 leaflets and is dark green. In autumn, leaves will turn beautiful shades of red and orange before falling.

Soil type: Well-draining, moist soil is preferred. Will tolerate most soil types.
