Description: A medium to large deciduous oak, this is a long-living, beautiful tree. This oak has a short trunk with ascending branches, dark grey bark and blue-green foliage which turns browns and reds through autumn.
Origin: Europe.
Cultural notes: Prefers full sun. When young, this tree can tolerate some shade. Water in well when planting and keep moist until tree establishes. This tree is low maintenance.
Tolerates: Tolerates drought once established.
Flowering type and season: Small, insignificant clusters of flowers known as catkins appear in spring, followed by acorns. This tree can take up to 20 years before yielding its first crop.
Foliage type and colour: Foliage is a beautiful blue-green colour with a 3-7 lobed shape. The leaves turn reds and browns in autumn before falling.
Soil type: Well-draining, moist soil is preferred. Most soil types and pH levels can be tolerated.
