Cultural notes: A fast-growing shrub that prefers moist, well-drained soils in a partly shaded position.

Maintenance Should be pruned after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth.

Tolerates Frost tolerant, moderately drought tolerant.

Flowering season: Spring.

Flower colour: Abundant purple flowers in sprays. In a good season, the flowers can almost obscure the foliage.

Foliage colour: The leaves are small and dark green. They are oval in shape but can vary in width to be quite broad or narrow. Foliage is aromatic.

Width: Up to 1.5m

Height: Up to 2.5m

Plant spacing: 50cm apart

Recommended uses: The most common of the mint bushes. Attractive when in flower. Good along paths where the aroma is released when brushed against.
